Ahead of its annual Christmas on the Square celebration, the City of Celina announced several opportunities for residents to give back to those in need this holiday season.
"In the spirit of giving this holiday season, our goal is to provide residents and friends with multiple ways to support their neighbors in need here and around North Texas," said Jason Laumer, Celina City Manager. "Our hope is that Christmas could truly be the most wonderful time of the year for every family and every child, and we know that the generosity of people in Celina can help accomplish this."
Below is a list of opportunities for families to get involved in holiday giving.
TOYS FOR TOTS
On Wednesday, December 7, the historic Celina Downtown Square will host a toy drop event at 6:00 PM in front of City Hall. The Preston Trails Rotary asks that residents bring a new, unwrapped toy to the drop-off and enjoy visiting with Santa as well as members of the United States Marine Corps. Throughout the holiday season, toy receptacles will be available at City Hall (142 N Ohio St.), Mobility Credit Union (205 E Walnut St.), Brookshire's Food & Pharmacy (675 E Sunset Blvd.), Creeks of Legacy Amenity Center (4141 Clear Creek Pkwy.), and Lamar National Bank (110 S Preston Rd.).
WRAPPED IN LOVE
As a part of its annual Christmas campaign, Celina-based Grace Bridge provides ways for parents to have the opportunity to provide gifts for their children. Along with its normal food-collecting efforts, Grace Bridge will be accepting new, unwrapped toys at its Celina Donation Center (402 S Oklahoma St.). These gifts will be distributed through a special Christmas store so that parents can provide their children with a memorable Christmas experience. For more information, please visit www.gracebridge.us/holiday-events.
The Celina Police Department will be holding its annual Blue Santa outreach for families in Celina with needs this Christmas season. For more information on Blue Santa or to adopt a local family in need, please contact Officer Chase Guidera.
Cornerstone Christmas seeks to provide 359 kids in need with an opportunity to experience the magic of Christmas by collecting new toys. Residents can volunteer to be a sponsor, host a drive, or donate toys. Those interested should contact Kelsie Simpson or Jen Lutes.
