The City of Celina City Council honored Celina High School students, who earned national and state laurels, along with City employees award winners on Tuesday, April 12.
Celina Mayor Sean Terry honored the Celina High School Cheer Team that captured its first-ever UIL 4A-D2 state championship. At this same competition, the Bobcats earned the designation of “Best in Crowd Leading,” which earned them a trophy.
In addition, Mayor Terry recognized the Celina High School Las Gatitas team that competed at the Danceline USA National Championships in San Antonio in March. The Las Gatitas team won a Third-Place Ring of Champions Award for their performance.
City of Celina employee award winners were also honored by the Mayor and City Council for their outstanding contributions to the City. Tom MacDonald, Utility Line Maintenance Team Leader for Public Works, was recognized as the 2021 Employee of the Year. Below is a list of City of Celina Employee Award Winners.

Finally, Strategic Planning Manager Anthony Satarino gave City Council an overview on the 2022 – 2024 Strategic Plan for the City of Celina. Cody Webb, Director of Parks & Recreation, updated members on the renovation of the Celina Senior Citizen Building, and a discussion on held on the proposed Texas New Mexico Power Transmission Line.
The next City Council Meeting will be Tuesday, May 10, at 5:00 pm in the City Council Chambers.
