The City of Celina Building Inspection Division is here to assist the community and design professionals with building related issues. We administers enforcement of all construction related codes, and ordinances of the City of Celina. The department performs construction related inspections on private property on residential and commercial buildings within the City limits.
After issuance of a building permit, it is the responsibility of the permit holder and/or general contractor to ensure the proper sequence of inspections are requested by the permitted contractor or authorized agent. Completion of inspection ensures that residential and commercial structures and private properties meet the minimum building and life/safety requirements of the 2006 ICC Codes and Code of Ordinance.
A building permit is required to erect, construct, enlarge, alter, repair, improve, remove, convert, move or demolish any building or structure within the City Limits.
City Codes require that all permitted projects remain active within a 180 day period until the final inspection is complete and a Certificate of Occupancy (CO) is issued. Permits expire on the 181st day after the date the permit is issued and the project has not received an inspection, or after the date of the last inspection that shows progress toward completion of the project. An application for a permit will be deemed abandoned after 180 days if a permit has not been issued
