Moody’s has been going through a Recalibration Process to change US Municipal Ratings to the Global Scale Ratings. The stated purpose of the recalibration is to enhance the comparability of credit ratings between municipal obligations and those issued by other entities, such as corporations. As a result of this process the Moody’s rating for the City of Celina has been changed from “Baa1” to “A1”. Moody’s officially states on its website: “This recalibration does not reflect any change in our assessment of the intrinsic creditworthiness of the securities, and should not be considered an upgrade of individual ratings.” |

Citing “improved and sound financial position”, Standard & Poor’s announced last week that the rating service’s underlying credit rating analysis of the City of Celina has been upgraded from “BBB” to “A” with a stable outlook. Celina has executed sound financial and fiscal policies over the past year, increasing the general fund balance reserve and strengthening the City’s financial position. “We’re delighted that S&P has recognized our efforts to continually improve our financial position with its latest ratings analysis. This will save the taxpayers of Celina money by decreasing the cost of future borrowing” stated Jason Gray, Celina’s city manager. |

On the first Saturday of every month Collin County in partnership with the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) hosts its monthly Collin County Cleanup Day. From 8am to 2pm Collin County residents can drop off the following at the NTMWD landfill on Highway 121 in Melissa at no charge:

Residents must have proof that they live in Collin County (driver's license or water bill will work) and all loads must be covered.
As you can see, we cannot take chemicals and household hazardous waste at this monthly event. However, Collin County will sponsor a "Chemical Cleanup" on Monday, September 28, from 8am to 1pm at Myers Park on County Road 166 in McKinney.
This event is open to all residents and like our monthly cleanup day, it is free.
